Recently a group of pupils of mixed ages, who have a keen interest in different forms of cycling visited the National Cycling Centre in Manchester. The week before, the boys were treated to a tour of the centre and they all really wanted to have a go on the track as they’d all enjoyed watching the Olympic cycling on the TV.
On the day the boys had use of the track for an hour with a coach. The coach went through the basics; like how the bikes have no breaks or gears, then they spent 20 minutes riding around getting familiar with the track. After that each pupil had a chance to complete a two lap time trial.
The pupils where even lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the Olympic cycling champion Laura Trott!
